How To Uninstall Skype For Business
If you wish to remove Skype for Business from your computer, the following are a few methods you can utilize to do so:
1. Uninstall from the Control Panel
Arguably the easiest way to uninstall Skype for Business is to uninstall it from the Control Panel. Now, you may have done this for other programs on your computer, but there’s a trick when it comes to this particular application. This method applies only for a standalone Skype or Business version, which means that if it’s part of the Microsoft Office or Office 365 for Business, it won’t even appear as an uninstallation option in the Control Panel. Why? Because it is a part of all the other Office applications. While we will deal with the latter case in the next point, let’s solve the case for uninstalling the standalone Skype for Business version first. Here’s how you can do so: right click on the Start menu button or press the Window key + X to open WinX Menu. Once you’re there, click on Control Panel and then on Uninstall a Program under the Programs section. This will show all the programs installed on your machine. Now, look for Skype for Business in the list and select it, then click on Uninstall. This will then ask you to confirm the action and show a string of onscreen instruction prompts. 2. Uninstall From Installation Of Office
As mentioned before, if Skype for Business is a part of a Microsoft Office set of applications, then you can remove it by removing the application from the Office installation.
However, even this method doesn’t come without a catch- this will work only in the case of an MSI-based installation of Office and not a Click-to-Run version. 3. Prevent Skype for Business for Starting Automatically
A lot of the users have complained of the application simply because it appears when you absolutely don’t need it, sometimes even disturbing your work on the device. If that’s the case with you, you don’t have to go through the hassle of removing or uninstalling the application altogether. The problem can be solved by simply disabling the application from starting automatically so that you no longer have to see it when you don’t need it. To do so, all you have to do is launch the application, click on Tools button, and then hover over it to select Options. Now, in the left pane of the window, you will find the option Personal, click on it. In the right pane, uncheck the boxes- Automatically Start the App. You can Log on to Windows and Start the App in the Foreground. This will disable them, and then you can go ahead and click on Ok, Go back to click on Tools. This time, hover over File and click on Exit. This will close Skype for business, and you will no longer be bothered by the application opening automatically. But, you will be able to use it whenever you need it.
4. Uninstall MS Office
So the Skype for Business application on your computer is not a standalone version and is a part of the Microsoft Office suite of applications. But, you’re still bent on deleting the app. Assuming that your Skype for Business and Office is a Click-to-Run installation and the method to disable the MSI-based installation didn’t work either, the only way you can delete Skype for Business from your computer is by deleting Microsoft Office.
When all of the other solutions fail, you can be sure that your installation of Skype for Business is rooted with the Microsoft Office installation which implies that these two cannot be separated without uninstalling both of them together.
